Speaker We're rolling. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Blue Ox baseplate on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five required components when flat towing any vehicle, and on our Chevy 1500 today, we'll start by taking a look at the baseplate. And the baseplate is gonna mount to where the factory tow hooks were, or structurally to the frame of the vehicle, creating a mounting point for the rest of your components, and also your tow bar. Tow bar is your second component, and that is connecting point between the baseplate and the hitch on the RV. Now just like a trailer, we have our safety cables here that'll attach to the tabs on the baseplate that are gonna be your safety chain loops, and then you'll just attach those to the safety chain loops on your RV. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster base plate with removable arms on a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five main components when flat towing a vehicle that are gonna be required on your Silverado to get it down the road. And the first one is gonna be your base plate that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle creating a mounting point, not only for some of your other components but your tow bar. And your tow bar is the connection point between that base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, we have our safety chains and these are going to make sure in case of a less than likely but potential of a disconnect, these are gonna keep everything still attached. And you also have a breakaway switch, which is part of your braking system, which is also a component which brings the vehicle to slow and stop when you apply the brakes on the RV and the breakaway switch is if this was to pull in case of a catastrophic disconnect, it's going to apply the brakes on the vehicle, bringing it to a slow and stop. more

Our base plate is gonna be one of the key components in our flat towing setup. We have, of course, our base plate, our tow bar, our safety cables, our supplemental braking system, our diode wiring and our battery disconnect. Our base plate is gonna be that key attachment point between our truck and our tow bar. Our base plate is going to replace our tow hooks and bolts right up to the frame, so it's going to be really strong for a long time. more

We're going to be taking a look at the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit here for our 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500.Our base plates are going to be one of the several other needed components we're going to want to complete our flat tow setup. We're going to have the safety tables here. We're going to have our tow bar, which connects the motor home and the towed vehicle. We're going to have our wiring system, which is going to illuminate the tail lights on our towed vehicle using signals from the motorhome, and last but not least, we're going to have a supplemental braking system, which is going to assist the motor home in braking via the towed vehicle.The purpose of our base plate kit here is it's going to provide a connection point for our tow bar so we can attach it to the motor home and we can tell our vehicle down the road. Now what I really like about this Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, in particular, is that it has a very hidden, sleek look, so it's not going to take away from the front of our vehicle. more

Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we're gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms. Part number is RM-3176-3.Here's what our base plate's gonna look like installed and not in use. As you can see, this is gonna be a replacement for our two hook, so it really doesn't change the looks of the vehicle all that much. When it is time to use it, we're gonna have our quick disconnect arms, those are gonna slide right in, and we can use the provided pin and clips to slide through and secure it.Now this allows us to attach directly to our tow bar, or, attach our tow bar directly to the base plate, without the need for that big crossbar, that quick disconnect crossbar. This is gonna make it nice and a lot more convenient to use.As the pin from our tow bar slides through, you can see this hole here; our snap ring goes down and it will come over to hold that in place. But you can also replace that with a lock if you'd like to lock that pin in place. more
